After taking her first breath underwater in Kenya at the age of eighteen, Daniella was determined to make diving and the underwater world part of her career.
Born in 1976 in the UK, Daniella spent much of her childhood paddling in streams and hand rearing injured wildlife. After finishing school with 3 A-levels, she then gained a First Class Honours degree in Economics before succumbing to her first passion and travelled extensively for several years. In countries that include Egypt and Mexico she taught scuba diving and built up her knowledge and experience in the specialist arenas of marine biology and underwater photography.
New Ideas
Eventually returning to the UK with renewed ideas of moving into factual television production and journalism, she began working at AOL UK as Editor/Producer of the Shopping Channel. Working alongside the AOL Travel Channel, Daniella was also able to undertake freelance travel writing commissions.
Now, with a background that also includes: professional photography – surface and underwater, travel journalism, and successfully running two companies, Daniella is moving in front of the camera to pursue a career in television presenting.
Diving Skills
Daniella is trained to an extremely high level in scuba diving with a commercial HSE qualification as well as being a PADI MSDT instructor, and has logged well over a 1000 dives. She is currently working towards Trimix and Extended range courses. Also a competent freediver, Daniella is passionate about nature and boasts an extensive knowledge of marine life and underwater environments, with emphasis on conservation and ecology. She enjoys anything involving adventure and exploration.
Photography
Based in Surrey, Daniella and her husband, a fellow marine expert and photographer, founded h2o productions, a production company specialising in water-related filming. Daniella also set up h2o babies (a division of h2o productions), a successful photographic business providing underwater baby portraits for parents, as well as media production services. Since starting in 2002, she has photographed over 5000 babies. When not underwater Daniella also works as a model and freelance journalist.
